Profesia didactică a încetat să mai fie o alternativă atractivă de carieră pentru tineri, inclusiv din cauza imaginii şi a statutului social necorespunzător importanţei pe care o are, aşa cum o demonstrează mai multe cercetări. Analizând documentele de politici, specificul reformei din sectorul educaţiei, contextul internaţional, dar şi opinia cadrelor didactice şi manageriale, prezentăm factorii-cheie care au influenţat evoluţia imaginii şi a statutului cadrului didactic, precum şi un set de recomandări pentru îmbunătăţirea situaţie

The teaching profession has ceased to be an attractive career alternative for young people, not least due to the image and social status it bears nowadays, which does not equal its importance, as a number of studies show us. By analyzing the policy documents, the specifics of reform in the education sector, the international context, and also teachers’ and managers’ opinion, we present the key factors that have influenced the evolution of the image and status of the teacher. We also offer a number of recommendations intended to improve the current situation.
