Rezumat

The article focuses on the concept of social representation, its role and position in society. It represents the collective view and perception of a certain group. The collectiveness is determined by similar individual perspectives of different social phenomena which form the panorama of social reality. The similarity is shaped from the socio-cultural context of the certain group or society which continuously influences the people living in. Thus, social representation is a kind of social consciousness which forms the people’s image on the real event, the manner of interpreting and thinking of the daily reality. The subjectivity streams through the objectivity – each individual views the world through his/her own “glasses”. But these glasses are mainly similar because of common values shared by the society. During the last decades, social representations and its mechanisms were widely investigated by researchers from different domains. They present different definitions of social representation which reveal its features, functions, structure and essence.
