The present research aims to evaluate personality factors and emotional intelligence among students, and to establish the relationship between these two variables and academic performance. The research sample is made up of 200 subjects, students from different Universities in Romania, at the Faculties of Psychology, from the first and second years of studies. Following the evaluation and data analysis it was observed that there is a significant association between the high level of emotional intelligence and academic performance (p = 0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.618**). The personality factors that correlated with academic performance were extraversion (p=0.015, Rho Spearman = -0.172) and conscientiousness (p=0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.540**). Also, a significant correlation was observed between academic performance and self-efficacy (p = 0.001, Chi-square = 126.97), the value system, namely the values: creativity (p = 0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.818**), intellectual stimulation (p = 0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.724**), objective success (p = 0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.739**), independence (p = 0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.769**) and security (p = 0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.797**), and self-esteem (p = 0.001, Rho Spearman = 0.806**).
