Background. Ocular surface disease is one major type of eye diseases. Different etiologies trigger distinct pathological responses of the ocular surface. Objective of the study. To determine the prevalence rates and associated characteristics of patients who have ocular surface complications associated with eyelids disorders. Material and Methods. A retrospective study was undertaken to determine the frequency of all eyelid lesions treated in the ophthalmic Department of Timofei Moșneaga Republican Clinical Hospital between 2019-2022 years. Results. During this period was operating 95 cases of eyelids abnormalities. The most common lesion of the eyelid was ectropion, which represented 65.8% of the total lesions. Number of entropion and lagophthalmos was the same 17.1%. Conclusion. Ninety-eight percent of the patients who had an eyelid malposition abnormality had tearing, ocular surface as one of the complications. Treatment of eyelids pathologies is an important step in avoiding ocular surface complications. |
