It is generally considered that culture represents one of the main characteristics when trying to mention the specificities of people, the general characteristics of a na- tion or when trying to determine the common elements that exist in several countries, no matter the distance between them. The purpose of the material is to present the provocations launched by cultural diversity in the context of the contemporary world. The presentation starts with the concept of culture, with the aspects according to which this notion should be regarded, trying to stress, as well, the role of the cultural models. Democracy represents a main factor, absolutely necessary to be taken into account, when trying to emphasize the dominant characteristics of the modern society, in which cultural diversity prevails.
