The information space offers enormous opportunities, but it also involves real threats to internal security, data, electronic systems and privacy. There are a lot of possibilities to create enough misinformation in order to contaminate the media space and prevent people from understanding what is happening in reality. Misinformation can have serious consequences for society and democracy. It can influence the way decisions are made in political, financial and economic context, and can jeopardize the protection of the environment, health, national and international security. The pandemic crosses borders and threatens economic stability at the national, regional and international levels. The Republic of Moldova has not remained immune to the pandemic and “infodemic” declared by the World Health Organization. It is becoming increasingly clear that an enormous amount of information about COVID-19 is circulating during the pandemic period. The functioning of a single multi-stakeholder platform for debate between science, government and civil society on the necessary measures to combat fake news in the current pandemic situation requires long-term state and financial support through international programs and/or projects that Republic of Moldova benefits |
