Rezumat

In this work, we aim to present the traditional culture practices with the value of juvenile socialization of young people who have reached the age of maturity. Updated in various socio-cultural contexts, the habits of initiation are part of the normative code of the community, having the role of facilitating the passage of young people through certain social protocols of integration among adults. In most cases, the contextualization of these customs took place within the ethnocultural phenomenon called Village Hora / Hora satului (Joc or Jioc – the traditional Romanian circle dance), represented as a major socio-cultural manifestation in which the institution of elderly people (as advisers and observers on the customary fulfillment of the order of the earth) and the institution of the band of lads (responsible for organizing the Village Hora and the habits of initiation in an age class) were competing. The specialized literature makes available to researchers of ethnocultural phenomena more information regarding the entry of young people into the band of lads / valets, while the initiation of nubile girls remains for some reasons, still unclear, a less researched topic. The present study represents a more in-depth investigation of the practices of modifying the status of individuals who have reached the maturity level and a synthesis of the information obtained in order to understand the meanings of the initiation scenarios for both genders. In practice, these habits represents same ritual plays that perform the ceremonial of passage (separation from the world of childhood and integration into the community of lads / big girls “good to marry”), based on archaic patterns inherited from centuries. Each initiated individual repeats in customary mode the social normative provisions already consolidated, passed through tradition, becoming ordinances with sacred value. The group that help him in the initiation route follow that these rules have be fulfilled exactly so that in this ritual initiation scenario, the old individual have be reconditioned into a new personality.
