Contemporary globalization requires not only the change of language and cultural policy, but fundamental development of learner-centered education. Critical in this respect is improving learner’s autonomy and introducing a new system of learner’s evaluation. Personal self-esteem has a special place in the learner-centered approach as a factor in self-promotion, which correlates with the appropriate external assessment. Our research has shown that not all teachers understand the importance of autonomy in the learning process. In such circumstances, the only possible form of autonomy can only be a reactive autonomy. To transform it into an active form we need to give students the freedom of choice and implement a system of evaluation contracts that promotes learner’s self-esteem. |
