Rezumat

The creation of a Food Safety Agency will contribute to fulfill the requirements of the “Republic of Moldova Action Plan on the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission to establish a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone between Moldova and the European Union”, approved by Government Decision no. 1125 of 14 December 2010. Law no. 113 of 18.05.2012 on establishing the principles and requirements of food safety legislation is harmonized with Chapters I and II of Regulation (EC) no. 178/2002 of the European Parliament and the Council of 28 January 2002 laying down the general principles and requirements of food safety law and establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety published in the Official Journal of the European Union (L31/1 dated 01.02.2002), and develops principles outlined in the “Food Safety strategy for the years 2011-2015”, approved by Government Decision 747 of 3 October 2011. The overall objective of this strategy is to apply the basic principles of food safety policy to the entire food chain, including feed production, animal and plant health, animal welfare, primary production, food processing, storage, transportation, sale, import and export.
