Academic mobility has been an issue of gradually increasing importance over the last decades. This fact was clearly reflected in the EU policy papers in the field of education and research, all of them aimed at working towards facilitating student and research exchanges for consolidating the European Research and Higher Education Areas. With a budget of about
4 750 million EUR mobility of scholars is supported within the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Development. Given the fact FP7
is open to virtually any person able to contribute to knowledge advancement, Moldovan academics could participate in the projects supported through this scheme as Third country representatives. In spite of the limited opportunities implied by such a status their success rate was of 20 per cent, a result comparable to the European average. Against such a background, the Association to FP7 opens up unprecedented possibilities for Moldovan researchers, one of them being to benefi t from all activities foreseen in the PEOPLE Programme. |
