Modern sense of the term „citizen” is presented as a individual conscious of his status as a membership of the society, free and equal in rights, that voluntarily participate in the social life of the country, has a set of rights and freedoms and is protected by the law. Important is that the citizen is not just a subject in a legal relationship with the state, but a man who knows his rights and duties, has a participatory spirit in the life of society, is aware of civic duty and responsibility that involves citizenship status. In this regard, the citizen is the bearer of phenomenon called civism (active citizenship). |
