The osteological remains we will refer to were excavated in 2015 from the medieval site at Lozova–La Hotar cu Vornicenii (Străşeni County, Republic of Moldova). A number of 27 funerary complexes have been excavated, containing 27 individuals (five males, eight females and 14 of undetermined gender). The deceased were buried according to the traditional Christian ritual – head to the west, watching eastwards, stretched on the back, with stretched legs and arms bent at the elbows, with the hands on the chest, abdomen or shoulders. According to the grave goods, in the absence of coins, the use period of the cemetery was estimated between the middle of the 14th and the 15th century. The cemetery belonged to a Christian community. The conservation state of the skeletons is satisfactory. Of the 27 individuals, 15 did not go over the age of 14. Only one individual falls into the 14-20 years category. The other 11 subjects lived after the age of 20. The sex ratio (the masculinity index) of this osteological series is only 0.62, and life expectancy at birth is 19, 29 years.
