In the context of the First World War, of the Revolution from 1917, the new constituted Republic of Moldova was forced, first of all, to form its own armed units. The first Parli¬ament of Bessarabia (Sfatul Tarii) did not have at his disposal any military unit, which would have helped it to restore the order and to defend the republic.
