A physiopathological study on the effect of global warming on healthy people and with different pathologies
Global warming is a term widely used to describe a potentially dramatic rise in the annual
average global surface temperature of the Earth. If such a change in temperature occurs it is most likely that there will be other alterations to our climate. The rainfall distribution might change and the frequency of severe weather events, such as hurricanes and typhoons, might increase. All the variables that we use to describe the weather and climate might undergo a profound alteration. Changes in human health will again result in winners and losers and will be due to a variety of direct and indirect effects. Mortality may well rise in the more developed nations as death from coronary heart disease and stroke increases at the extreme temperature ranges. High temperatures will also affect people with renal, cardiovascular and endocrine pathologies. |
