In the scientific work Aspirations and consequences – the aspects of the post – war period there is discussed the woman character – Rusanda Cibotaru, from „Leaves of sorrow”, by Ion Drutsa. In the first years of the World War II, she decides to become a teacher. Her decision is of a courageous one, as at that time Besarabian people could see their daily bread earned solely through physical farming work. Suddenly she feels lonely among her nearest and dearest, as the villagers started to look at her skeptically. The dramatic situation gets worse, when Gheorghe, a boy from the village loved a lot by Rusanda, starts to ignore her, as he thinks
becoming a teacher, Rusanda will give up some common human values. Through Rusanda ‘s character, the author reflects the intelligence drama in the first post-war decade. |
