In the context of the total dependence of the Republic of Moldova on the import of energy resources, energy security becomes a necessity, but at the same time a challenge for our country. The purpose of the research is to identify the possibilities of achieving the energy security of our country for the purpose of efficient use of energy resources. Thus, we can note that in the last 25 years, no major changes have occurred in the Republic of Moldova in order to unlock the country's total dependence on imported natural gas and electricity. Thus, the lack of measures taken has contributed to the aggravation of national energy problems and the monopolization of this sector of the national economy. The need for changes intervenes as a lever to unlock the created situation, overcome the existing challenges and achieve energy security at the national level. The research methodology focused on the use of the following methods: analysis and syn-thesis, induction and deduction, abduction, comparison, qualitative analysis. Towards the end, we reiterate that there is a need to diversify the sources of supply of energy resources of the national economy, in order to access European projects focused on the exploitation of renewable energy sources, which could save the national economy from the excessive dependence of the national economy on the import of energy resources.
