Rezumat

Grasslands have a wide range of ecological functions and are home to highly diverse, specialized ecosystems. Poa pratensis is a mesophytic grass, with a high fodder value, being eaten by different species of herbivorous animals. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the floristic composition and nutritional value of the hay from the Poa pratensis floodplain grassland of the "Alexandru Ciubotaru" National Botanical Garden (Institute) in Chisinau. The grass was harvested at the beginning of the flowering stage and was dried under natural conditions. It was determined that the floristic composition of the grassland consists of grasses in ratio of 59% grasses, 19% fabaceae, 22% species from other botanical families. Based on laboratory analysis, it was established that the obtained hay has a content of 90.7% dry substances, their chemical composition being: 13.43% crude protein, 2.60% crude fat, 29.15% crude cellulose, 43. 25% nitrogen free extract, 11.29% ash, 5.24% sugars, 1.9% starch, 7.3 g/kg calcium, 3.0 g/kg phosphorus, 34.12 mg/kg carotene, with a feed value of 8.38 MJ/kg metabolizable energy for cattle and 9.79 MJ/kg metabolizable energy for goats and sheep. The hay from the meadow grassland with Poa pratensis has high nutrient content and energy value, and can be used as fodder for livestock.
