Rezumat | ||||||
Background. Providing reliable national data on antibacterial consumption is mandatory for understanding the epidemiology of antibiotic resistance. Objective of the study. Identify the methodology for calculating the consumption of antibacterial medicines in hospitals in order to map their consumption by administrative-territorial area. Material and Methods. Bibliographical materials from various national and international sources were reviewed (SCOPUS, PubMed). Results. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended unit of measurement for studies of antibiotic use the Defined Daily Dose (DDD). Thus, to determine the consumption of antibiotics in hospitals, the practical calculation method of DDD/1000 patient days (hospital days) will be used: DDD/1000 patient days = [DDD use] / [Number of hospital days]*1000. The above mentioned calculation methodology obtained positive opinion No.1245 on 26.01.2022 in the National Committee for Ethical Expertise of the Clinical Trial for the PhageLand project. Conclusion. The amount of antibiotics consumed will be expressed in DDD/1000 hospital days, for each antibiotic it will be used ATC/DDD Index 2022 (WHO) value. The use of this internationally accepted standard will allow comparison of antibiotic consumption at different doses. |
