Background. The study aims at analysing several names of diseases, clinical manifestations, symptoms, various pathogens (bacteria, viruses , parasites), in whose structure one can find an identifiable onomastic element, from an interdisciplinary perspective, that of medical and linguistic fields. Objective of the study. The aim of the paper is to reveal the phenomenon of onomastics, which can be found in the medical nomenclature. At the same time, a comparative study of anthroponymy terms will be done with their semantic equivalents belonging to another functional register. Material and Methods. It has investigated factual material selected from the specialized literature. The object of the research has been studied through the methods of functional, distributional, contextual analysis, classification, synthesis, data processing and analysis. Results. The researched medical nomenclature reveals some features, depending on the language registers: (1) the denominative structures applied for the designation of various diseases, syndromes are created on a Greco-Latin substrate (affixes/ afixoids); (2) the onomastic landmark (usually an anthroponym) is produced as an eponym in the designative expression; (3) the toponym in the medical name indicates either the area of incidence of a virus or refers to certain psychiatric disorders; (4) the possible synonymous series belong to an unconventional language register, the denominative expression being strongly stylistically marked, as a result of a process of analogy and metaphorization. Conclusion. The medical discourse belongs to the specialized languages, with multiple particularities in the way of composition and functioning at different levels of the language, the objective-referential aspect being marked, especially, at the level of lexemes or different types of constructions. |
