Studiul comportamentului politic urmărește acțiunile individului din punct de vedere politic și acea informație pe care el o percepe despre comportamentului său și despre ceilalți participanți la actul politic. Omul este temelia politicii. Paradigmele comportamentului politic se axează pe motivele alegătorului de a se angaja într-o acțiune și pe determinanții votului. Psihologii politici evidențiază lipsa unei “educații” politice la cetățean, ceea ce îi determină comportamentul și îl împiedică la luarea unei decizii “corecte”. Lipsa unor cunoștințe fundamentale despre politică, lideri politici, partide, politici publice marchează comportamentul politic al majorității. Omul se implică puțin în chestiunile politice, fiind preocupat de problemele sale personale. Problema aspectelor psihologice a comportamentului politic este insuficient discutată în Moldova, fiind abordată tangențial din perspectiva sociologic-economică. Este necesară identificarea schemelor cognitive și modului în care indivizii procesează informația politică. Aspectele psihologice a comportamentului politic au la bază relația structură –personalitate ce ține de mecanismul de influență socială. Necesitatea unui dialog constructiv dintre stat și societate are la bază comunicarea – care este un instrument eficient pentru identificarea problemelor unei comunități.

Political behavior analyses human’s acting from political perspective as well as the information which he perceives about his behavior and other political actors. Human being is the basis of politics. Political behavior paradigms are focused on the voter’s motivation and the factors that influence his decision making aspect. Political psychologists emphasize the lack of political “education” of citizens, which determines their behavior and bars them from right decision-making process. The lack of some basic knowledge on politics, political leaders, political parties, public policies highlights the political behavior of majority. Human beings get slightly involved in political matters, being more worried about their personal problems. The psychological aspects issue regarding political behavior is not enough studied in Moldova, being indirectly treated from socio-economical view. It’s necessary to understand the cognitive aspects of this behavior and the way individuals process the political information. The psychological aspects of political behavior are based on structure-personality relationship, social influence mechanism. An effective dialogue between government and society is about communication – that is an efficient tool for identifying the issues a community deals with.
