Background. Despite tremendous progress in atrial fibrillation (AF) management, it remains the major cause of stroke, heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, sudden death and cardiovascular morbidity. Objective of the study. The purpose of this survey was to assess risk factors in patients with atrial fibrillation. Material and Methods. The research included 140 patients with AF, hospitalized in the departments of Urgent Cardiology, Heart Failure and Cardiac Rehabilitation of "The Institute of Cardiology" between 2018 and 2019. The average age was 62,5 ± 5,5 years. For statistic validation were used EpiInfo and T-student programs. Results. In result 50% of patients were young elders (60-75 years), 14% - elderly elders (76-85 years). LDL cholesterol had normal values (<4,1 mmol / l) in 53%, high values (4,1-4,8 mmol / l) in 31%, very high values (4,9-5, 9 mmol / l) in 13% of patients. High blood pressure of I-st, II-nd and III-rd degrees was reported in 10%, 57% and 26% of patients, namely. About 26% of patients were overweight, 60% had various degrees of obesity (I-24%, II-27%, III-9%). 49% of investigated patients had diabetes mellitus (DM) type II and 1% type I. Only 20% of patients had a family history of AF. The gender distribution was almost equal in men and women(72 versus 68). Conclusion. In conclusion, the major risk factors in AF are hypertension, obesity, dyslipidemia, DM, old age. |
