Rezumat

Psychology is currently presented as a broad and coherent system of concerns, which unites two poles, two opposite but complementary levels: the academic level, where its conceptual peak is located, the theoretical synthesis of the most valuable information and knowledge, selected and settled in time and the practical applicative level, through which psychology descends to life, to everyday life, trying not only to explain, but to intervene amelioratingly in the multitude of concrete aspects of human behavior. It follows that to be a psychologist, a good psychologist means, on the one hand, to know a lot about psychic processes, structures and mechanisms and, on the other hand, to possess the ability, the competence to operate in what you know in in order to design, optimize and improve the various activities and social roles in which people are engaged. Professional satisfaction (job satisfaction) is a concept that finds explanation in the complex attitude of the person towards his professional activity and work. It is also a positive emotional state that results from the appreciation of the workplace as a personal achievement and value. The usual meaning of professional satisfaction consists in fulfilling needs, desires, expectations, valuing merits and ensuring personal rights at work. There are several attempts to explain job satisfaction. Approaches to this concept can be grouped into two paradigms: content theories and process theories. The former focus on the specific factors that motivate the individual at work, the latter analyze the dynamics of the motivational process. Theories focused on the analysis of motivation dynamics analyze the process and factors that condition work motivation. The most accepted explanation of the motivation was proposed by Victor Vroom. The theory of expectations proposed by Vroom claims that the motivation of employees correlates with the attractiveness of the task and the result, the latter being appreciated differently depending on the meaning for the person. For some employees, salaries, career advancement matter, for others - flexible hours and the opportunity to spend more time with family. Thus, employees will be motivated to perform those activities that they find attractive and for which they have the ability to perform them, thus leading to favorable personal consequences. Of course, psychological well-being can be determined by personality factors, but also by occupational factors - schedule and work environment, job satisfaction. The workplace influences both professional satisfaction and psychological well-being. Professional life positively related to personal interests, skills and values becomes a condition of job satisfaction, thus maintaining the psychological well-being of employees. Employees who share a positive attitude towards the occupation they carry out are happier and more self-satisfied. Those who have a negative attitude face several emotional, mental and physical problems. In this sense, the professional activity that is related to a large part of a person's life, can be evaluated as one of the fundamental factors of psychological well-being.
