Rezumat

In Romania, homosexuality has attracted the attention of researchers and the general public since the late 1990s. The perception of and attitude toward homosexuality depend on the respondents’ age, educational level, residence, religious affiliation, moral beliefs, prejudices, and contact with homosexual persons. This paper reviews the findings of several studies that have been concerned with the perception, attitude and stereotypes that the general public in Romania has about homosexuality. According to the studies reviewed, Romania still shows a relatively high level of intolerance toward homosexuality.
