Rezumat

One of the negative consequences of social development is the massive pollution of the
environment with chemical, biological, physical and other agents, which adversely affect human
health, in particular, through the formation of free radicals. Contemporary medicine recommends
in such cases the use of biologically active substances obtained from natural raw materials,
which exhibit remarkable antioxidant properties [1]. Grape seeds are a valuable source for
obtaining enotannins, natural compounds of polyphenol structure, which possess particularly
important antioxidant properties. In this work Enoxil, a polyphenol compound with antioxidant,
antibacterial and antifungal properties, have been used.[1] One of the basic principles of the
prolonged activity of a pharmaceutical product is its stability in time, according to the lifespan
on the label. In order to determine the stabilty of the Enoxil product, it have been investigated the
total content of the acidic functional groups (carboxyl and phenolic, TCP). Therefore, the acidbase
titration method has been chosen for the analysis of TCP parameter, according to Boehm’s
method with slightly modifications. Monitoring of this parameter was performed over five years,
obtained results are shown in the table 1.
Table 1. Total content of functional acidic groups (carboxyl and phenolic) determined in 5%
aqueous solutions (calculated per 1.0 g of solution 5% Enoxil)

The investigation results allow us to conclude that the total content of acidic functional groups,
determined in 5% aqueous Enoxil solution, are practically the same throughout the product
storage time, which means that Enoxil is stable for at least 5 years.
