The purpose of the study was the comparative study of the effectiveness of doxycycline, levofloxacin and josamycin in different clinical forms of reactive arthritis. The frequency of improvement in urogenital reactive arthritis was similar and amounted to 74% in patients receiving doxycycline (200 mg per day – 21 days) in 61% of patients treated with josamycin (300 mg per day – 21 days) and 61% of patients in the group treated with
levofloxacin (500 mg per day – 21 days). Patients with mixed form of reactive arthritis showed significant differences between groups in terms of efficiency (p <0,01). The greatest effect was stable in patients treated with doxycycline (70.9%), while levofloxacin and josamycin showed transient efficiency (50.98% and 49.0%, respectively).
However, among patients with reactive arthritis intestinal form that received levofloxacin was found steady improvement, observed within 9 months (p <0,01). The effectiveness of doxycycline and josamycin was comparable (80.4% and 70.8% sustained improvement).
