Rezumat

Coordination polymers represent an area of growing interest in chemistry and material sciences due their unique properties and potential applications in fields such as gas storage and separation, catalysis, magnetism, and photonics. One of synthetic strategies for the preparation of coordination polymers relies on the simultaneously using of several bridging organic ligands with metal ions. Two new zinc(II) coordination polymers with vanilic acid (vaH2) and 4,4′ -bipyridine ligand (4,4′-bpy), {[Zn(vaH)2(4,4′-bpy)(H2O)2] • 3dmf}n (1) and {[Zn(4,4′ -bpy)(H2O)4] • 2(vaH) • 4H2O}n (2) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermorgavimetric studies. Single-crystal X-ray structural study reveals a chain polymer in the crystals of both compounds, which crystallize in monoclinic space group C2/c: a = 19.187(1), b = 13.220(1), c = 17.393(2) Å, β = 119.503(9)° for 1 and a = 22.384(1), b = 12.0615(3), c = 11.6256(3) Å, β = 103.076(3)° for 2. In the structure of 1, each metal atom resides in center of symmetry and coordinates two monodeprotonated vanilic acids, two water molecules and two bridging 4,4′ -bipyridine ligands in monodentate mode resulting in octahedral coordination surrounding of Zn(II) ion. The exo-bidentate 4,4′-bpy ligand reside also on the center of symmetry and link metals in neutral polymeric chain as shown in Figure 1. In the structure of 2, each Zn(II) ion resides on two fold axis and coordinates four water molecules and two centrocymmetric briging 4,4′-bpy ligands, which link metals in a 1D cationic chain (Fig. 1). The monodeprotonated vanilic acid residues serve as counter ions and associated with polymeric chain by hydrogen bonds and π···π stacking interactions.Figure 1.
