Rezumat

The breed performances and the carcasses features of two quails populations were compared in 2 batches of 50 males in every one. The slaughtering output of the Balotesti population was 71.12%, while for the Faraon quails it was significantly higher, of 72.73%. The average chest proportion of the carcass weight was 38.08% for the Balotesti and 39% for the Faraon, the legs were 25.44% for the Balotesti quails and 25.63% for Faraon, the dorsum was 26.87% for Balotesti and 25.00% for Faraon and the wings of the Balotesti were 9.61% and 10.00% for the Faraon. The share of the carcass’s parts was higher for Faraon, with the exception of the dorsum, but the differences between the two lots were not statistically assured. The average weight and the proportion of the chest meat were significantly higher in the Faraon. In conclusion, the slaughtering output and the carcass’s features for the Faraon quails population was proved to be superior to the Balotesti population.
