The evolution of the Republic of Moldova state from the civil society functionality perspective. In the article it is examined state - civil society relationship, and is argued that the interaction between these two social actors depends largely on the development of the democratic process in our country. The scientific work proposes a periodization of the development process of the Republic of Moldovan state and the affirmation of civil society based on electoral cycles and on the development vector of Moldovan society. The article concludes that certain improvements are necessary to enable civil society to contribute more robustly to deepen democratic reforms. More efforts are required to strengthen the national statehood and to bring closer the relations between state and civil society in the context of harnessing the Republic of Moldova opportunity to integrate into European Union.
