Rezumat

Given the capital importance of the genetic diversity of crop plants on long terms, it is stipulated in various international documents. During 2007-2008 period, at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) from Cluj-Napoca, seed collecting actions from over 300 vegetable cultivars (carrot, parsley, lettuce) from private seed producers and from 20 Romanian counties have been made. These were studied in the laboratory and on the field, from biochemical and agro biological points of view, in order to complete the descriptors. After selecting the authentic local varieties, seeds were produced for their conservation in the Gene Bank from Suceava and the Gene Microbank from USAMV Cluj-Napoca. Of the 95 lettuce studied cultivars, 39 proved to be valuable local varieties. In the following work there are presented the next data: situation of the local populations in the counties; biological purity and seeds germination capacity; various biological and agronomical characteristics of the plants.
