Rezumat

The metallic rings and their assembly we are interested in fall into four broad overlapping research areas; molecular magnets, qubits, refrigerants and rotaxane based molecular machines. Three successful synthetic strategies were used to make such compounds. Initially, two families of antiferromagnetically coupled heterometallic rings (“green” and “purple”), which have nondiamagnetic ground states, were synthesised by templated formation [1]. This was followed by the functionalisation of both the periphery and the templates of the {Cr7M} rings to make them to act as complex –ligands. This allowed the design and synthesise of more complex structures with these new ligands [2-4]. The synthesis, structures and properties of various poly- rings architectures will be presented.
