This article is part of an extensive, ongoing study aimed at highlighting how organizational culture can contribute to improving the sustainability management of the companies from the Republic of Moldova. Sustainable business development is a topic that has received increased attention over the past few years, both from management theorists and from business people. Correctly integrated into company strategies sustainability becomes a model of development that offers multiple benefits to economic units. Many scholars suggest that the pathway for the adoption of corporate sustainability principles leads via the adoption of a stainability-oriented organizational culture. In this paper, we provide a closer examination of the link between the cultural orientation of a company and the level of sustainability of it. For this reason we seek to assess (1) the sustainability level of economic units in the Republic of Moldova, (2) the characteristics of the organizational culture of the enterprises in the country, and (3) the correlation between the type of organizational culture and the level of sustainability of the companies included in the research. The conclusions suggest that organizational culture is as an important consideration for successful implementation of corporate sustainability initiatives. |
