It is long ago decided that the power of managing any middle and bigger size organizations cannot be concentrated just in hands of its manager. Decentralization in any area is a response to the problems of centralized systems. When the economy suffers from decline, the services do not function effectively since they are overloaded, the government is not able to support some programs and doesn't get to the point and cannot help minorities, decentralization in government, the topic most studied, has been seen as a solution. A school is not an exception from the group of organizations that need a committee management consisting of a group of experts who take the power from one hands and decide collectively. In this paper, we describe and analyze the School-Based Management model based on the one by Adeolu et.al. We try to examine the School-Based Management Committee’s (SBMC) involvement and effectiveness in school governance, curriculum implementation and students’ learning outcomes. The authors concludes that an effective school-based management committee is the engine room for school and community partnership and vital for school effectiveness and students’ success, while the challenges that teachers and principals face in the tasks of instructional performance and supervision require strong political will to keep on desired commitment and goal-oriented partnership between the school and other stakeholders for optimal resource inputs, organization, utilization and management of learning facilities in order to maximize the quality of teaching and improve the standard of students’ learning outcome in school. |
