Research Institute of Electronics (RIE) is known as a birth place of the all-electronic television system. Late Prof. Kenjiro Takayanagi displayed Japanese alphabet “イ”on the Braun tube in 1926, and accomplished all-electronic television system in 1935. Takayanagi’s television research won the IEEE milestone award in 2009, which is known as both world heritage and Novel Prize in electrical engineering. RIE is designated as a Center of Excellence (COE) in imaging research using nanotechnology. RIE has developed several novel image sensors including CMOS image sensors, X-ray image sensors, radiation tolerant image sensors etc. In the presentation, I will introduce novel image sensors developed in RIE. |
