Magnetic skyrmions are particle-like nodes of magnetization. Because of their particular topological and physical properties, they are one of the most exciting objects in solid-state physics fundamental research. For potential applications in information technology, the current-driven movement of magnetic skyrmions is the focus of current research. On the other hand, new methods and mechanisms are being investigated to locally detect and manipulate skyrmions locally.
