Botanical Garden (Institute), Academy of Sciences of Moldova, founded in the southern part of Chisinau on an area of 104 ha has performed the inventory of flora; elaborated the basic laws governing on conservation and management vegetation of the Republic Moldova; favored the development of different researches on plant world; contributed to studying youth education and training, promoted autochthnous scientific Schools and prepared highly qualified staff. Actually, in the Botanical Garden (Institute) of ASM has been stored over 10 000 species, ecotypes and forms of precious plants for national economy and about 180 000 of herborized desiccates of wild fl ora; since 1975 works scientific specialized council on defending doctoral theses in biology, specialization – Botany; BG (I) publishes “Journal of Botany” – serial publication, also delectus of autochthonous species names proposed for the exchange of seed with 140180 botanical gardens in the world and prepared for editing ”Flora of Bessarabia”; scientific library of BG (I) numbers over 16 000 scientific names.. |
