Purpose: estimation of clinical evolution in SGA newborns in neonatal period. Materials and Methods: prospective cohort study on a group of 228 newborns from the Mother and Child Institute. The Group (L1) was made up of 110 SGA newborns with birth weight <10 percentile for gestation and the control group (L0) of newborns with eutrophic nutrition. Newborn clinical observation sheet (Form 097/e) was analyzed, of which fetal hypotrophy type and early neonatal morbidity were analyzed. The accuracy of rates and average values was determined by the test of signifi cance (t student) and the threshold of signifi cance (p) according to the t student table. Results: resuscitation maneuvers at birth have prevailed in the group of SGA newborns (step A, p<0.05, step B, p<0.001, step C, p<0.01 and step D, p<0.05), which signifi es and justifi es installation yet since intrauterine period of hypoxic condition due to complications of pregnancy and birth and intrauterine decompensation. SGA newborns morbidity in neonatal period was determined by congenital pneumonia, p<0.01, meningitis p<0.05, patent ductus arteriosus p <0.01, persistent pulmonary hypertension p<0.05, hypoglycemia p<0.001 and congenital malformations p <0.05. Conclusions: SGA newborns more frequently develop various morbid conditions compared to their peers without SGA. It was determined that SGA premature babies develop comorbidities: premature baby anemia, premature baby apnea and neonatal jaundice due to prematurity, 6 (17,6%), p<0.01, congenital malformations p<0.05, while SGA babies born at term develop meconium aspiration syndrome 9 (11,8%), p <0.01 and persistent pulmonary hypertension 4 (5,3%), p<0.05. |
