Postcaustic esophageal stenosis in children
Strictly etymologically, the term of caustic refers to the action of bases, while the term of
corrosive defines the effect of acids. The management in postcaustic esophagitis is very
important for the patient. An optimal approach for this trauma can reduce morbidity related to esophageal stenosis. Ingestion of caustic substances affects two age groups: children and adult - adolescents, causing very serious damage to the esophagus and stomach. Most patients survive the acute phase, but their development continues, leading to the occurrence of esophageal stenosis and / or stomach, which is, according to some authors, a favorable ground for development of cancer. |
