Rezumat

Nowadays, theatre has given up on exclusiveness only so it can carry the message of its creators to an audience as numerous as possible - it is performed anywhere, anytime and it delivers an imperative message especially to youngsters, because they are the ones who feel the need of taking part in the making of a better world. The show creators are not trying to reinvent theatre, they do not try to create masterpieces, but instead they only wish to have a civic attitude. Their goal is much larger than that of changing the stage play and the perception of theatre – they want to change the world. Education through theatre has been adopted for a long time in western countries, its goal being the discovery of the inner self, as well as the development of one’s ability to observe and analyse the world and the society. Because the theatre is primarily an art of the dialogue, it helps the development of inter-human communication, and also the attention towards one’s partner, thus youngsters shall learn the science of dialogue, of collaboration with the surrounding people and learn to be sociable. Education through theatre is not accomplished only through school programmes. Education also implies the information of people, while trying to make the receivers more responsible. One of the most significant playwrights, who understood the importance of the role that theatre plays within the social shift and the motivation of the people to get involved in solving the problems and deficiencies of the contemporary world, is the Brazilian author and politician Augusto Boal. He developed new forms of theatre, such as Invisible Theatre, Forum Theatre, Statue Theatre, Newspaper Theatre, Legislative Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed – all of these are forms of active theatre, which involve spectators and prompt them toward civic actions. It is thus pointed out to the individuals of a community that they are able to bring change if they get involved and also that creating a better world depends on them. Art and education through art have an essential contribution to the process of individual evolution in the context of social development. Nowadays, theatre is having more and more social overtones – even in the conventional presentation of a show one can sense the need of either the director of the playwright of rebuilding the civic conscience. Theatre plays whose subjects are taken from the immediate reality rely less on the spectacular, on the imaginative and more on the veracity and the force of impact that their truth holds. Theatre, through its artists and the projects they undertake is not used exclusively for the education of young – and not so young – people, but also for the reeducation and rehabilitation of those who have lost their personal rights as consequence of breaking the law. Thus appeared the project “EXIT” which aims at fighting the stereotypical opinions about convicts in the Romanian society. The social action and the theatre meet in contemporaneity. The dramaturgy and the spectacology now become tools for changing the society and shifting the mentalities, a path for individual transformation and also an active and efficient way of educating the young generation.
