In 1806, a massive resettlement of Bulgarian refugees began to the territory of Bessarabia. Priests resettled along with their parishioners and provided moral support during the resettlement and during settlement in the new lands. Historians know only a few names of Bulgarian priests. Among the clergy was priest Dmitry Solomonov, who moved to Bessarabia at the beginning of 1806. He served in the religious-territorial communities of the villages of Musait and Hadzhikioi, Izmail and Banovka. Based on numerous information from church reporting documents, a generalized image of the priest and his descendants who served in the Holy Assumption Church of the Bulgarian colony of Tashbunar was recreated. The author comes to the conclusion that in order to understand the historical processes in the south of Bessarabia, it is necessary to more actively study the life and work of the clergy, who were the spiritual leaders of the masses. |
