This article focuses on such a traditional form of collective cultural leisure of the Gagauz people as gatherings in terms of the variety of implementation, functional orientation and norms of manifestation. There are given variants of their names in the Gagauz language depending on the local dialects. In comparative terms, examples of this form of mass pastime among neighboring peoples are used. A characteristic feature of the gatherings is noted that in almost all cases, despite the fact that they involved entertainment and play, their participants are associated with work activities.
