Rezumat

Introduction: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a multifactorial condition, and autonomic dysfunction is a mechanism that helps maintain psychosocial stress. The aim of the study was to assess the presence and severity of autonomic dysfunction in subjects with fibromyalgia versus subjects without fibromyalgia based on the COMPASS 31questionnaire. Materials and methods: 24 patients with fibromyalgia (2010 ACR Diagnostic Criteria) and 24 controls appropriate by sex and age completed the COMPASS 31 questionnaire. Results and discussion: The total scores for COMPASS 31 were significantly different in the FM and non-FM groups (39.75 ± 10.76 vs 22.51 ± 16.62) with higher values in the FM group, the same trend being recorded for each of the individual areas of the autonomic function. Comparatively, the weighted scores recorded in the FM and non-FM groups were: Orthostatic Intolerance– 20.33 ± 9vs11.3 ± 11.29, Vasomotor - 2.22 ± 1.25vs0.625 ± 1.13, Secretomotor– 6.79 ± 2.87vs3.75 ± 3.18, Gastrointestinal - 5.43 ± 2.98vs4.08 ± 3.08, Bladder– 1.94 ± 1.58vs 1.2 ± 1.45, Pupilomotor –3.03 ± 1.03vs1.58 ± 1.41. Conclusion: Significantly higher scores of autonomic dysfunction according to COMPASS 31 were recorded in the FM group.
