Rezumat

The article examines the issues of internal migration of Ukrainians in the context of general migration processes in the Republic of Moldova. A definition of internal migration, its types and forms, its impact on general demographic processes in the country, on the economy, political, social and cultural spheres, the causes and consequences are presented. Statistical data on the number of migrating population within Moldova, the population mobility index, and the direction of the main migration flows are provided. The main characteristics of internal migrants are determined: ability to work (more than 89%), age (predominance of the age group 20-49 years), gender (57.5% of women and 42.5% of men), etc. The level of internal mobility of the Ukrainian population turned out to be significantly higher than that of Moldovan. At the same time, Moldovans are ahead of Ukrainians in external migration. For Ukrainians, as well as for representatives of other ethnic groups, it is common to move to large cities. And the reasons are the same - finding a job and studying in higher educational institutions. When moving to rural areas, Ukrainians prefer to move to villages where their compatriots live compactly.
