Rezumat

Viral hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by various infectious and non-infectious agents. Viral hepatitis B and C are the most common types that can lead to chronic liver disease, liver cancer, and mortality. Viral hepatitis treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach, considering biological and psychosocial aspects. Patients with a chronic form of viral hepatitis experience problems in the psychological sphere, including anxiety, depression, and stress. It affects their quality of life, causes social isolation and a sense of shame. The individual beliefs and attitudes of the patient to the disease play an important role in the prognosis and success of treatment. In the presented empirical study, an assessment of the attitude to the disease of patients with viral hepatitis was carried out. The results showed that most patients have a harmonious type of attitude towards the disease, which indicates active participation in treatment and the maintaining active social functioning. However, some patients show anxiety, hypochondriac thoughts, depression and a pessimistic point to treatment, share an apathetic type of attitude towards the disease, manifested in indifference to their fate and treatment results, as well as a sensitive type characterized by vulnerability and concerns about the reaction of others. The influence of the disease negatively affects leisure, free time, and material well-being. There is an inverse relationship between the harmonic type of attitude to disease and negative emotions, as well as between the melancholic type of attitude and the duration of emotions. The results have shown that the type of attitude towards the disease is associated with self-reported disease social significance. The anosognostic type of attitude is associated with restriction of strength and energy, deterioration of social environment relations and material damage. A distressing type of attitude is associated with limiting pleasure, free time, and communication. Hypochondriac and melancholic types of attitudes are associated with limiting strength and energy, worsening of family and work relationships, limiting leisure time and physical attractiveness. The apathetic type of attitude is associated with the limitation of strength and energy, as well as with the deterioration of family and work relationships. Psychological support, including counselling and therapy, helps patients cope with emotional difficulties and increases the effectiveness of treatment.
