Rezumat

It is known that 100 years ago, there were some problems with the grave of Alexei Chorny Karageorgievich in Chisinau Nonetheless, the monument of rare architecture survived. Nowadays, the burial place of the son of the ancestor of the Serbian royal dynasty, who died in 1831, is found not far from the church in Chisinau central cemetery. In 1911, in the “Kishinev Diocesan Gazette”, the Bessarabian governor, Count I. V. Kankrin, addressed the Serbian patriots with the request to support and restore an interesting monument, presented in the form of a quadrangular obelisk made from local shell rock. On one side of the monument, there is the inscription: “Lieutenant of the Life Guards Aleksey Chorny, the son of the leader of the Serbian people, is buried here: he died at the age of 33 from his birth.” The inscription on the other side reads: “Buried in 1831”. On the third side, the initials are erased and it is difficult to make them out. On the 4th side, the all-seeing eye and the attributes of royal dignity are depicted. Various documents, related to the tragic pages of the family history of Alexei Karageorgievich, were found in the National Archives of the Republic of Moldova. Currently, the Royal Academy of Sciences of Serbia is interested in preserving the grave of Alexei Chorny. Also, after the publication of an article about this burial in the press, a group of businessmen from the Republic of Moldova collected all the necessary documents, including a letter from the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova about the cultural and historical value of the monument. Later, corresponding work was carried out on the conservation of this historical obelisk. A project for the restoration of this monument has already been prepared, and we hope that this unique grave from the first half of the 19th century will be restored and saved in the Central Cemetery of Chisinau.
