Once with the intensifi cation of human kind activities, regarded as productive or social ones, the modern citizen assures a well disserved role for the green spaces in their life, considering the green spaces as meaning for escaping the daily routine and bondage towards nature. Ornamental trees and shrubs represented by a large variety of sizes, shapes and colors consist as a never-ending source of beauty, arousing attention and interest. For landscape design purposes most of them are adopted as solitary examples, green fences or topiary art. If in Romania till 1990 the production of ornamental trees and shrubs was made in state research units, nowadays we observe the increase of ornamental trees and shrubs private importers and the decrees of ornamental trees and shrubs production units. Ligustrum gender is one of the most used species in landscape design as solitary form, green fence or topiary art.
