Rezumat

The crystal structure of [Cu(2,2'-bipy)(NCS)2] 1 has been solved. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, a = 8.093(2) Å, b = 15.564(3) Å, c - 10.533(2) Å, β= 95.20(3) space group C2/c. The structure consists of infinite linear chains resulting through the connection of the copper(II) ions by double NCS bridges. The stereochemistry of the copper(II) ions is distorted octahedral. The metal-donor atoms distances are: Cu - N(bipy) = 1.999(10) Å; Cu - N(NCS) = 1.942(18) Å; Cu - S(1) = 3.222 Å. The distance between the copper atoms within a chain is 6.102 Å.
