In this article, the testing system and implementation in agricultural practice of corn hybrids, created within the Institute of Crop Science „Porumbeni”, is presented. In the process of testing hybrids, the number of selected hybrids decreases significantly from one test stage to another, with only hybrids being selected at the end, which exceed the average of the controls during 2 years in comparative competition testing and one year in ecological testing. Thus, 4-8 experimental hybrid combinations are proposed annually for official testing, of which only 1-2 hybrids, after three years of testing, are approved and included in the Catalog of Plant Varieties.
