Rezumat

The effect of additives of nickel and neodymium on the tribological properties and modification of metallic surface is studied. The study of the friction surface under the scanning electron microscope and at the profilograph-roughness indicator has demonstrated that the additives decrease much the plowing friction mechanism in boundary lubrication. But the biggest effect had the additive of nickel, which has decreased the wear of samples of 45 normalized steel more than 2 times. It is found that the greater the plowing friction surface effect, the greater friction and wear of the surface and the greater the strain hardening of the near-surface layers of 45 steel.
