One of the founders of sociology Max Weber carried out his academic studies in the second half of the 19th century and the first quarter of the twentieth century. He tried to understand the modern age with all its dimensions, starting with the problems of the German Empire, where he lived. Placing special emphasis on rationalism, he formulated numerous concepts that explain modern societies, especially by putting rationalism at the center. One of the names who witnessed the end of the 19th century and the first quarter of the twentieth century is Franz Kafka, who lived in a country neighboring Weber’s homeland. It was through literature that Kafka expressed the effects of the atmosphere in which he lived, which was also similar to that experienced by Weber. In this connection, Kafka's The Metamorphosis will be discussed in this paper through Weber's sociological concepts based on their similar experiences. |
