The article aims at describing the semiotic status of the artistic conceptualization studying the case of the novel ‘La Promesse de l’aube’ (1960) by the Vilnius-born French author Romain Gary (1914–1980). It analyzes both classical (D.S. Likhachov) and recent linguistic approaches (V.V. Feschenko) theorizing the artistic word as a cognition tool. Treating the urban space as text (J. Lotman, V. Toporov) and using the artistic semiosis model (V.V. Feschenko) the article interprets the correlations between the history of Vilnius as a multilingual space and the author’s identity. |
